Did you enjoy ‘time out’ these holidays? But overindulging might have left you feeling less than healthy.

Below are a few simple and easy suggestions to help you bounce into the new year feeling healthier, energised and help you lose those few kgs gained.

Getting back on Track

Step 1. Love Your Guts

Implement these key suggestions to improve your gut health:

  • Increase your intake of a wide selection of coloured fruits and veggies; these are rich in antioxidant Phyto chemicals for optimal health.
  • Try a daily fresh homemade detox juice (see recipe below)
  • Increase fibre-rich foods such as legumes and wholegrains, which promote beneficial gut bacteria and overall digestive health.
  • Reduce your intake of alcohol and processed, sugary and fatty foods which can harm your gut lining.
  • Focus on stress management. Stress reduces digestive enzyme production and increases leaky gut.
  • Eat slowly, chew thoroughly, and don’t eat on the run. Eating slowly signals to your gut that food is coming, stimulating enzymes and improving digestion.
Recipe for fresh detox juice

All fresh and washed

Celery 2 stalks

Apple 1 small

Carrot 1 large

Parsley (approx 1tbsp if chopped finely)

Cucumber 1 small

Kale or broccoli one small handful

Ginger 1-2cm

Lemon peeled 1

Juice and drink immediately.

Step 2. Hydrate and Move!

Nothing replaces the benefits gained from exercise and drinking enough water.

  • Drink 2 L of filtered water each day to support toxin clearance.

• Get plenty of exercise. As well as improving cellular health and circulation, exercise encourages sweating which is a great way to detox. Aim for 30 to 40 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise three or four times a week, plus one or two strength training sessions.

Step 3 Skin & Emotional Detox

  • Dry skin brushing before your shower for 5 to10 minutes each day can aid toxin elimination via the skin.
  • Reduce toxic emotions and stress by reading positive affirmations that inspire you to fight off negative thoughts.

Step 4 Does Your Body Need Help To Detox?

Foods, Herbs & Supplements can be used to help the body’s natural detoxification processes work more effectively. But deciding on which and the correct quantities to consume can be difficult. It’s advisable to talk to a practitioner to decide whether a detox is indicated for you, and which program is most appropriate for your needs.

The common programs I often use are;

The Mini Detox Health Reset Program
  • is suitable for most individuals. It helps to optimise your detoxification capacity, supporting your overall health, and keeping you feeling energised.
Full 6 week Gut Pathogen Elimination Program
  • is indicated for people with persistent gut conditions, helping to reduce digestive symptoms such as pain, bloating and wind for a happier digestive system.
The Liver Chemical Clearance Program
  • is ideal for those with known exposure to chemicals and heavy metals. It enhances the elimination of these toxins to leave you feeling regenerated and vibrant.
